Damp Proofing in Chorlton

We're based right here in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, so the streets around Beech Road, Wilbraham Road and Chorlton Green are the ones we work on most. The area is dominated by solid-wall Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis — beautiful houses, but exactly the type that suffer with rising and penetrating damp once the original damp-proof course fails or the pointing goes.

Most damp problems we see in Chorlton come down to three things: aged or bridged damp-proof courses on the older terraces, high external ground and path levels trapping moisture against the wall, and condensation in the many houses that have been extended or had rooms knocked through without matching ventilation. We use damp meters on every survey because a good number of 'rising damp' call-outs in M21 turn out to be condensation — which is far cheaper to put right.
